Essay Proud My Country

India is my country. I am proud to say that I am an Indian. India has many claims to fame.

India got Independence on 15th August 1947 from the British rule. Of all the countries in Asia, India is die biggest democratic country. It is spread over 3,287,590 sq. km., from North to South by 3214 km and East to West by 2933 km. It is surrounded on three sides by ocean and sea, while die north is dominated by the world’s youngest, however, highest mountains called the Himalayas.

At the foot of the Himalayas runs the country’s most prestigious, sacred river, the Ganges. Under its influence, the northern part of die country has become one of the most fertile lands in the world. Besides, there are many holy, perennial rivers like, Narmada, Kaveri, Yamuna and many outliers.

India has 28 states and seven Union territories. Perhaps it is the only country in the world where people of all religions live in unison. Though Hindi is the official language, there are as many as 2.5 different languages spoken by different people! This paved way for over 100 festivals in India almost throughout the year. And every festival carries a message of high moral values.

The ancient India had numerous noteworthy specialties. The world’s first language ‘Sanskrit’ was born in India. Thus in every walks of life India had been the torch bearer to the entire world.

The stress for the Basic education, Universities, Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Warfare, Martial arts, Indus Civilisation, Art & Culture, Vedas, Upanishads, Great Structures and Temples, like lord Shiva temple in Tanjore built by Rajaraja Chola – the list could go on endless!

While ancient India had many claims, the modern India is no lesser than that. The green revolution helped India to have sell sufficiency in harvesting.

Similarly in every front India has gained steady growth. Now it (India) manufactures all its want and need not import any thing from anywhere, except for petroleum products.

Recendy our ISRO has sent a rocket ‘Chandirayan’ to the moon. It again proves that India can become the greatest country like America. It is rich in cultural heritage. This holy land is the birth place of many greatest saints like Buddha, Adi Sankara, Ramanuja, etc.

More than anything else, the Book of ‘Bhagwadgita’ enlightens all good virtues to mankind irrespective of one’s religion.

Thus India remains a high-profile country in the international arena. And I feel proud to be a son of this oil.

I Love My Country Essay

I love my country. I am proud to be a Canadian. We live in a beautiful land; we have ample natural resources; we have a long peaceful history; we are a truly multicultural nation; we have made major contributions to the advancement of society; and we are, all in all, a great people.

Canada is the second largest land mass on earth -- and what a beautiful country it is! Surrounded by three oceans, it has an incredible variety of landscape. From the vast, pure, arctic north, to the breathtaking Rocky Mountains, to the prairies, through the rocky Canadian Shield, the fertile farmlands of southern Ontario and Québec, to the picturesque Maritime Provinces, Canada is amazing. Each region has its own beauty. Our cities are filled with exciting things to do; our small towns are welcoming and rich with history; our farmlands are abundant and peaceful. In my southern Ontario home, I can enjoy four beautiful seasons and, within little more than an hour, I can be experiencing the country's largest city, resting along the shores of the Great Lakes, or hiking through wilderness trails. I cannot imagine anywhere else on earth with such beauty and diversity.

Our amazing landscape also provides us with many natural resources, which we have learned to harvest. Hydro power from Niagara Falls, abundant forests and fish stocks, fertile farmland, rich oil fields -- the list is long. We have more than enough to help ourselves and, along the way, we have ample opportunities to help the rest of the world. Our wealth gives us so many advantages and, I think, special responsibility in the "global village."

One of the things about Canada which makes me most proud is our peaceful history. Certainly, we have been involved in wars and, when necessary (such as in World War II), Canadian soldiers made a major difference. But the Canadian mentality is oriented towards peace. Our troops are peace-keepers, not aggressors. Our instincts are to resolve our problems through negotiations, not bloodshed. Both in our relationships with other countries and in our internal problems, we tend to avoid violence. Even in our most difficult divisions --around the treatment of native peoples and in the...

1720 words - 7 pages Introduction: In a world obsessed with the possession of "things," it is ironic to see that all people seek one thing that is completely intangible, love.
